Week 2 (August 27 - September 2)

Week 2

Question 3

3).  Pick one concept from the reading assignment this week (Ch.2) that you found interesting or useful and and discuss it. Please discuss a concept that has not already been discussed this week so far.

One concept that really stuck out to me was feedback. I used to hate receiving feedback on my work because I always felt that I was being criticized, and that used to make me really self-conscience about my work. Now, I love feedback. I think it provides a lot of insight that you might not be able to see when reading and editing your own work. I also like to read things out loud when editing papers and assignments, it really makes mistakes easier to find and correct. Feedback is a great tool when used correctly. When giving feedback on someone's paper you have to be careful that your words sounds helpful and not insulting. You can't just say what the person did wrong, you need to show them the mistake, and help them by making a suggestion to make it better. Personally, I think two brains and two pairs of eyes are more helpful than one!

  1. Hey Raya!

I agree that feedback is critical. It kind of makes me think of the first example chapter 2 gives us of the four groups. Feedback provides understanding and knowledge. The four groups show the dynamics of feedback. If a group gets feedback and gains the knowledge of their successes, or failures, they can adapt and grow to achieve what they aim for. The groups that did not get feedback, or understand the feedback, will continually fail. Just like you put it, two brains are better than one. Feedback from others in small groups are great ways to improve as a whole.

  2. Hi Raya, I thought your post was great! You discussed feedback as one of the concepts not discussed from the chapter. I must admit, I felt the same as you when it came to feedback. If it was positive, then I loved it. But if it was negative, I would get really annoyed. But now, I have learned to embrace it. Not only can positive and negative feedback be extremely helpful, but it can give you a lot of insight into a situation that you hadn’t thought of prior. I am glad that I view feedback in a good way no matter what kind of criticism I receive because it helps me out overall.
